Aluminum 5083 flanges are approximately 93 – 95% aluminum and 4 – 4.9% magnesium, along with 0.4 – 1% manganese, and other trace amounts of elements (possibly small amounts of chromium,) this is important to note since the combination of these elements creates excellent corrosion resistance in seawater and chemical resistance in extreme applications.
