Copper-Nickel socket weld flanges are made with 70–90% copper and 10–30% nickel while sometimes alloying iron and manganese to develop some strength and corrosion resistance. The flanges also demonstrate good mechanical properties with tensile strength in the range of 310 – 550 MPa and yield strength in the range of 110 – 300 MPa. Known for extreme ductility and toughness, they are well suited for extremely demanding environments with high-stress levels. Physically, they have melting points between 1170 and 1240°C, thermal conductivities of 50-60 W/m·K, and densities are close to 8.9 g/cm³.
