Forged Duplex Steel Flanges are made from a combination of ferritic and austenitic stainless steel, usually containing 22-25% chromium and 3-5% nickel, as well as trace amounts of molybdenum, nitrogen, and manganese. This material provides significant strength, high levels of corrosion resistance, and improved resistance to stress corrosion cracking. These flanges exhibit high tensile strength, good fatigue resistance, and good weldability. Surprisingly, they have very good resistance to pitting and stress corrosion in the presence of chloride and can also withstand higher pressures and temperatures than normal stainless steel. These properties make them very desirable in process engineering, including the oil and gas sector, and chemical processing industries.
