Stainless steel flanges are normally made from grades such as SS 304, SS 316, SS 321, and SS 904L. Their chemical composition comprises chromium (16–25%), nickel (8–20%), molybdenum (up to 4%), and iron, carbon, manganese, and trace elements. Flanges have superior corrosion resistance, good weldability, and longevity. Mechanical properties are tensile strength of 515–750 MPa, yield strength of 205–500 MPa, elongation of 30–45%, and hardness up to 200 HB. They retain their strength at high temperatures and are resistant to pressure stress and oxidation.
